I think I have this CD knocking about somewhere... what're your thoughts on it?

I'm rather taken with the textures/sound world he conjures up, and also by the concision of the works: I often find music such as this can outstay its welcome!

The 5-disc boxed set arrived a few minutes ago. However, it will have to wait. I am currently listening to the stereo mix of the recording I made of last Thursday's Memorial Concert for Robert (Bob) Coleridge at the Warehouse, Waterloo. Pretty happy withthe results from the RØDE NT-SF1/Zoom F4 compnation.

Haydn's keyboard sonata no. 33. At 23 minutes, this one's a long one.

                  Martinu: String quartets
                  Panocha Quartet

                  Yesterday: 1–5
                  Today: 6–7

An interesting cycle, which I shall certainly return to.
The piano concerto set flagged up on the Martinu (Composer) thread looks interesting too (I have the Firkusny 2, 3, 4 and Palenicek 4, as well as the new BBC MM version of 4) but don't know 1 or 5!

Feldman: Last Pieces (1959) , Piano (1977), Palais de Mari (1986) {Philip Thomas).

Contrary to Philip Thomas's suggestion in the booklet notes, I find it necessary to turn the volume down a fair bit. Admittedly it is late, and there is very little background noise to obscure the recorded sound of the piano but, quite rightly in my view, the recording has not been made at a low level but uses most of the dynamic range available on a CD.
