          Haydyn's String Quartets Op. 20 2 & 4.

          Quartetto Esterházy.

          Sony from 1975.

Interesting approach but intonation isn't always spot on.

Bartok Quartets 1-6. Vegh Quartet. First Stereo Remastering (by Alexandra Evrard) of 1954 Cycle. Praga Digitals CDs 2017.

Utterly astonishing, I'm mesmerised by this, trying to find the right words.....maybe more on the 20thC Listening thread later.... my Album of the Year so far, anyway, by a long way...
(Although Yannick Nézet-Séguin's Mendelssohn Symphony Cycle with the heavenly COE (who've never sounded more beautiful) is catching up fast....)

Still waiting for mine, having opted for the cheapest amazon.co.uk marketplace offer. I tis supposedly due to arrive by tomorrow. I already know and admire the performances from the Scribendum mono transfer.

I was bowled over by Praga's recent remastering of Monteux's Daphnis. This intage recording has never sounded so good.

Are these from the Cluytens set on Warner, BBM? I had the Lps on CfP when I a teenager and loved them. I'm sure they've been issued before.
