It’s quite new, JLW. I think worth a listen.

The set includes the Guitar Concerto.
I have the Piano Concertos (Double Decca) and have just ordered the complete string quartets (ridiculously cheap: £8.41 plus postage), but don't know any other of his music (e.g., the Choros).
              Any suggestions for further listening?
So, how's the search going, Pulcers ? Not exactly knocked over in the rush of replies.

Things that people have recommended ( I think) but I don't know myself include " Forest of the Amazon", ( a Suffolk Coastal Fave IIRC) and the 6/7 th symphonies, which Pabs was listening to , and also recommended, I think.

              there may be more here:

                Two box sets ordered:
The complete string quartets (17, on 6 CDs)

and the complete Choros and Bachianas Brasilieras (includes the complete solo guitar music, apparently)

So lots of listening when they get delivered.

Thanks for reminding me of that other thread, too!

                  Here's a V-L recommendation:

Someone here mentioned Schnittke's Peer Gynt, which I'm enjoying very much indeed (Stockholm Opera Orchestra/Klas).

                    Debussy Jeux
Ravel Violin Sonata in G major(orch. Yan Maresz)
                    Stravinsky Petrushka(1911 version).
                    Renaud Capucon(violin)
Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Jonathan Nott.

Not too sure if this orchestration of the violin sonata works. I know others have found this. Apart from that, a very good Prom. Great to hear this orchestra at the Proms, for the first time! Can you believe it?

Kurtag - 'Stele' - Michael Gielen; SWR Orchestra - a marvellous filler to his equally marvellous Mahler 'Resurrection' !

Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47

Czech Philharmonic Orchestra/Karel Ančerl (Denon/Supraphon Japan UHQCD remastering)

"Kurtag - 'Stele' - Michael Gielen; SWR Orchestra - a marvellous filler to his equally marvellous Mahler 'Resurrection' !" - I couldn't agree more. Gielen at his incisive best.

DSCH 5 in the performance from which I got to know it (Supraphon LP - all of 17/6). Scrubs up very well indeed in this recent issue. And I think that it's probably still my favourite performance of this much-performed work.
