Hoya Stan. Great CDs there. I haven’t the Bridge though. Self recommending?

The two Bridge chamber music albums by London Bridge Ensemble on Dutton Epoch are top-drawer! High quality music, vastly underrated and wonderfully played, in my view!

Like a lot of his wonderful music is. I must get round to buying this one! Just been looking through for the CDand I came across this one which looks very interesting.

Frank Bridge and Cyril Scott Piano Quintets. Raphael Terroni piano and the Bingham Quartet. It’s on the British Music Society’s label. Recorded in 2012. Sadly it looks as though Raphael Terroni must have passed away during the production of this cd. Can be available on Naxos!

I bought this and was rather unimpressed with the playing. Barge-pole comes to mind!

                      Yo ‘stro

Out on 15 June, so not too long to wait. Conductor David Alan Miller very impressive; he first came to my notice with these three new concertos by Michael Daugherty:

Trail of Tears, for flute and orchestra (2010)
Dreamachine, for solo percussion and orchestra (2014)
Reflections on the Mississippi, for tuba and orchestra(2013)
                      Amy Porter (flute)
                      Dame Evelyn Glennie (percussion)
                      Carol Jantsch (tuba)

That's a wonderful disc! Such a shame that Tennstedt didn't leave us with at least one complete Wagner opera recording.
