New to me. A masterly orchestration.

    Erwin Schulhoff:

    Suite op. 37
Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks / James Conlon

    Suite dansante en jazz
    Caroline Weichert (piano)

    Five Pieces for String Quartet
    Quatuor Voce

    String Sextet op. 45
    Spectrum Concerts Berlin

All wonderful, each in its own way, but it's the Sextet which is the masterwork.
    Hiya DublinJimbo,

Exactly right! Schulhoff's Sextet is excellent. My recording is on Supraphon. I also admire his string quartets.

Another attempt to get to grips with Roussel.
      ( me, not the performers.)
I've never had to make any such attempts; the music just gets me by the scruff of the something-or-other, almost whether I like it or not (though I do like it very much!). Jayne?(!)...

He doesn't seem to grab the Proms programmers by the scruff of anything , as it goes.

The third is the only symphony of his that has ever performed there, although three times since 1999.

Hi Bryn. I found no such problems with my stereo player. The sound was very good indeed. Spotify via Bluetooth.

Indeed RB. She certainly had a lovely voice. Duly corrected. Quite a stellar line up of singers on that recording as well.

The E.N.O. production of Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini (Gilliam/Gardner) on a Premiere Opera DVD recordable. The aspect ration is a paltry 4:3 and the audio is 2 channel AC3, but it's acceptable. Sung in English, it also has unremovable English subtitles. Bit silly, that.

Nice cover, for starters. I’ll give it a spin later.

                                Currently: Roussel Symphony #3.
                                RSNO. Deneve.

Pretty excellent recording, I would say.
