Check the info at the back of the accompaning booklet. The CD versions are edited from up to three perfromances each, sometimes from different venues. I can't spot the joins, however. The perfromaces on YouTube were from a later series of perfromances and take a different appraoch to which repeats are played. Both sets are well worth hearing. Funnily enough I copied the audio of the performances on YouTube to my new Dodocool player earlier this evening.

I think 'Made In Japan' is the only non-fiddled with live albums. Glad you're enjoying the Dodo!

All recorded in the usual place - Bruges Concert Hall (or Concertgebouw Brugge) - according to the booklet so I’m not sure where the notion of different venues came from. My HIPP Beethoven cycle of choice - JvA can do little wrong in my book, although the recent Gershwin release is not perhaps his finest hour.

Isn't this a description of what happened with the Krivine/Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra recordings - or did this happen with van Immerseel, too?

Oops, sorry fg, and you too Beefy, you are quite right. I saw Immerseel and read it as Krivine. About time I listened to the Immerseel set again. Until the Krivines came along they were much favoured here.

The YouTube Krivine series audio, by the way, is at 98 kbps HE-AAC. Just about acceptable for the occasional listen. It helps to have the video content playing.

I have both sets and I often mix them up too! I wonder why this happens?

As mentioned on another tread, Ted Downes's 80th birthday concert (DAB mp2). The interval interview with Downes is a real gem, as is the concert itself.

This is a cd I purchased in Peebles recently. 3 for a £!

Very fine music making and an outstanding recording.

                            Hiya pastoralguy,

Superb playing as I expect from this quartet. Disappointed with some minor issues of the sound.

I had to turn it down slightly since the sound picture seemed to go slightly out of focus. And the upper strings sound a wee bit 'clangy', imho!
