      Mozart
Violin Concertos 1-5; Sinfonia Concertante K364.
Zehetmair/Killius/Orchestra of the 18thC/Bruggen. Glossa CDs

Zehetmair leads from the violin in nos. 1, 4 and 5; on release, I found these lacked some impetus compared to Bruggen's direction of the others. But now, the sheer beauty of this orchestra's sound, the spacious acoustics used, and that classic Bruggen-inspired lyrically-moulded phrasing only inspire a deepening love.
This is especially telling in such a movement as the gorgeous adagio of No.1 (one of my Mozart Top Ten). So I've returned to the whole set, again and again recently, with great and repeated pleasure.

Have you heard Andras Schiff’s recording of Brahms’s PCs with this orchestra?

But it's with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, not the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.

Every aspect of this performance of the second French suite is original - the relation of the voices in the more contrapuntal movements, the rubato, the speed of the basic pulse, the timbre of the instrument - all new, all fresh.
