Any suggestions about what I should take?
I don't have any suggestions as it is such a personal thing but I do wish you all the very best with it.

I had many MRI scans a few years ago (have a folder containing thousands of images which one day I'll stitch together to make a "voyage down the body" movie!) one thing I did notice is that after a long time (and I really enjoyed the scanner sounds and their spatialisation ) I felt warm from the inside, a bit like after spending time in a sauna, which I was told by the technicians was a result of how the MRI was vibrating the cells in my body.
A bit like "the feelies" in Brave New World!

I've had several MRIs. The noise is so bad that you can't appreciate the music. Perhaps Jon Leifs 'Hekkla' might stand a chance

          I love Jon Leifs.

The only problem with the packaging is much as that for the Dropkick Murphys.

The typeface is a bit Skrewdriver and there's no reason for that to be the case.

Khachaturian Violin Concerto with Ida Haendel - it might be too exciting for the MRI scanner but will keep you interested - rather more profound music I might find a bit disturbing .

              Well, that's it done!

Music didn't really figure in the process since there were two scans at 2 minutes and 5 minutes. The radiographer reckoned she couldn't fit the headphones on due to the size of my cranium! And, yes, the machine was pretty loud.

I hadn't decided on music until I left the house so I grabbed a cd that I'm very fond of. Cecilia Bartoli's 'Aria antiche' disc. A cd I've not played for a long time but will now listen to later tonite.

PG doesn't really make clear whether the headphones didn't fit because his head was too big or too small.

That apart, and rather more importantly, sounds like it went well, which is great news

( Cecilia sounds like an excellent choice, but it reminds me that she cancelled on me last year.......)

                        Don't be … bitter, team

                        And welcome back, pg
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Indeed - I hope the results are entirely satisfactory, pg. Mrs T due for similar soon.

She cancels on everybody. I could have saved you the bother. She's cancelled on me twice, I've posted on this sorry topic before. The Barbican refunded the tickets on the second occasion, but not the train fare or overnight accommodation. I'm not convinced she does actually perform, I think she only makes CDs. I took mine to the charity shop, wanting nothing further to do with her

Thanks, RT, I wasn't entirely surprise at the cancellation, just a bit disappointed as both Mrs TS and I were particularly looking forward to the concert . So it goes. At least we didn't incur extra cost. Very galling for you to pay out all that extra.

Best wishes to Mrs RT for her scan.

                              :)

Actually, since it was a brain scan, I had a contraption on my bonce to keep the contents still. (Think Hannibal Lector in 'Silence of the Lambs'). The radiographer explained the headphones wouldn't fit.

I've been lucky enough to see Cecilia three times and met her once. She looked at me with those huge brown eyes and said 'Thank you for coming to my concert'. Ever since then, I've been a huge fan of hers. (Mind you, I was a pretty big fan before!)

Many thanks for the good wishes.

I had an MRI scan in a big Dr Who Machine two days ago in Tottenham and it was not suggested that I should bring music. It took 20 minutes. Apparently it’s a new machine and not very noisy. All the same I was given a set of headphones and asked if I wanted music piped through them. I said yes and it was Luthor Vandross, an album that my girlfriend played to death in ’87 or thereabouts, so I was not happy. Had to listen for the duration. They give you a panic device to squeeze during the scan in an emergency, and I was sorely tempted!

(the headphones were really crap too)
