Going back to Alkan, I've recently been listening to my Yui Morishita recordings in the car. He really is phenomenal! I had to download them as mp3s as the physical discs are not available in the UK except via eBay at a ridiculous price!

Just delivered - and the delightful J Martin Stafford included a copy of the Eric Parkin Geoffrey Bush CD as a bonus. Very decent of him. This thread is proving to be expensive as, having no Alkan whatsoever in my collection, I've just ordered the three Yui Morishita CDs from CD Japan (I had points which needed to be used). Looking forward to hearing them/geeting to know Alkan's music (loved the Tom and Jerry clip, btw).

This CD arrived thursday. This is my third play-through.

Wonderful paired-down arrangement on a single piano. Really gets to the dynamic range of this music.

I'm not big on Elgar, but this and the later works (piano quintet, string quartet & violin sonata) are floating my boat, right now.
