Thanks Pulcinella. I recall a broadcast years ago of this studio version under Maksymiuk, but, alas, I found it very earthbound in comparison to the premiere. Of course, I think the RAH did its inimitable thing that night, affording the massive tuttis huge affecting resonance.

And btw, I really, really enjoyed Tryst, which followed on that CD.

As a romantic, I love the idea of people huddling around a radio listening to crackly, grainy sounds of Little Richard or Buddy Holly back in the 50s, with any ideas of sound quality not even being on the horizon - but I must say that that Macmillan CD was so much more enjoyable being played on my present equipment compared to my system of 25 years ago (even though that system was good for the time).
