Your Favourite CD/DVD at Advent/Christmas Tide

At this time of year, composers such as Bach, Handel and Vaughan Williams come to mind. what I was thinking of today were recordings tht forum members to to hear at this time of year or would like to hear.

I haven't bought Sir Andrew Davis's new recording of Handel's Messiah! (Not for the HIPP's!)

Me too, Vints. As well as this absolutely charming little piece by Charpentier - it gets an airing in my CD player every Christmas:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Still a bit too soon to start playing Christmas related music as yet but I do have the Barbirolli Messiah awaiting audition at a suitable time.

When it comes to Christmas carols I invariably turn to previous TV broadcasts of Carols From King's which I've been quietly saving over the past few years. They don't come much better than that. Usually play one while wrapping the presents in order to keep myself calm and not lose my temper when the scissors go missing again and the sellotape gets stuck in between my fingers.
