    Passing the baton....

...not seamless though. In this relay the competitors sit down for a chat and a cuppa before handing it on.

Yes, it's a bit like that. No surprise really.

A reasonable start though, but I've switched off for most of the 2-hour BBC Singers' slot. I'll try again at 1.00 p.m.

while I've enjoyed it so far i do feel there should be more music and less chat.

I've been listening to this(with the sound turned down for some bits) and found the MDs chat at the beginning on the one hand as expected(BBCS wonderful) but on the other rather puzzling. These(MDs) are experienced intelligent people so why the big gap between what they are 'hearing' and what we at home receive via the ether on so many occasions?
A few snippets at random which provoked me somewhat - wish I could take them up with the people concerned.Apologies for any mistakes in transcription.
'sing authoritatively as soloists' [choirs need to sing as a body - tuttischwein I believe was the BerlinPhil term]
'can present really stylish performances' [ this was in the context partly of the range of repertoire, my thought was 'can, but don't always']
'sing together every day of the week' [perhaps that's part of the problem?]
'sheer physicality of that sound' [bit less physicality and bit more finesse might be desirable?]
Before I get the clouds (of wrath) descending(I'll leave that for CE this afternoon!) and pace Gabriel Jackson et al, this isn't intended as a BBCS bashfest. I am genuinely puzzled about this disjunct.

            Snap.
At least the chat gave me enough time to go and get a CD to put on instead!

They do seem to have continually failed to get the balance right. As the day was about the BBC ensembles, I suppose some tub-thumping was inevitable.

I tuned in on a car journey, heard the voice of Jamie Macdougall and had to switch off immediately.

Welsh segment easily the best so far.

"Smug" doesn't begin to describe these commentators.

At least there's a complete Pulcinella to look forward to.
