Film exploring a musical collaboration between Wynton Marsalis and Nicola Benedetti.

Documentary exploring a unique musical collaboration between American jazz legend Wynton Marsalis and Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti.

The film follows the two musicians as they embark on a journey that culminates in the creation and performance of a violin concerto written by Marsalis especially for Benedetti

Is this worth bothering with - Nicky and Wynton: The Making of a Concert - BBC Four.

Film exploring a musical collaboration between Wynton Marsalis and Nicola Benedetti.

I thought it was coming on tonight, but it appears it was yesterday. At least it is available on iPlayer.

    Oh cuddle!

I intended to merge the two posts on this BBC4 programme into a single Thread - but now Pianorak's original post has gone west, and it looks as if Dave isn't feeling well!

Apologies to both - the overall title is now Pianorak's Nicky & Wynton and Forumistas are invited to respond to Dave's query and add any comments of their own they might have.

The blurb in the Radio Times put me right off - saying that she kept learning the latest version only for WM to keep changing his mind and sending her more revisions - thus upsetting her and ramping up the drama. So like Dave I'm waiting to hear if it is worth watching. I'm hoping pastoralguy watched it

        Whatever made you think that?

I was out at the pub last night, though - but that didn't result in any illness that I am aware of.

No - I meant that my clumsy "merging" (which somehow dropped Pianorak's name from what is now the OP - never happened before; obviously I've muddled up something in the Merge protocol ) so that now it looks as if you have posted a link for yesterday whilst thinking the programme was broadcast today.

Again, my apologies to you and to Pianorak - and if an Admin person who actually knows what they're doing can help restore the two posts within a common Thread, I'd be grateful.

In fact, I think I see what I did wrong - confusing the "merge thread" and "merge posts" tools!

Just watched the programme. As with all these things it is edited to suit the purposes of the programme, but it left me with the feeling (from the fragments of the final work we heard) that the concerto was a load of rubbish and that Nicola should never have allowed herself to get mixed up with the project. I particularly objected to the way WM tried to pass his shortcomings as a composer onto the soloist, when Nicky stormed out of that session going over the score.

I hadn't thought of watching this programme, because what you write seemed so predictable.

My dear fhg - no apology needed - but thanks for sorting it out.

I actually quite enjoyed the programme. Rather a lot of padding - non-musical aspects - but otherwise good.
