Final concert by SWR SO Baden-Baden und Freiburg

This might understandably get buried in the midst of Proms time, but if anyone wants to listen, SWR has the final concert of the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg, with Francois-Xavier Roth, at this site:

Many thanks, BSP, for the link. A depressing sign of the times that this fine orchestra (for which there is ample recorded evidence) should be allowed to disappear.

Happy to provide the link (although sad at the circumstances, of course). In this article from the Badische Zeitung, the commentator Alexander Dick really rips in to SWR Intendant Peter Boudgoust, comparing his actions to shut down this orchestra via merger with the destruction of cultural monuments in Iraq and Syria:

Zu: "Wir waren zu naiv", BZ-Interview mit dem SWR-Sinfonieorchester-Chef François-Xavier Roth zum "Finale" von Alexander Dick (Kultur, 15. Juli):

On the parts of the concert that I've heard so far, Lydia Jeschke is quite the presenter, in the best way. (FYI, her pronunciation of F-XR's last name matches SM-P's for R3.)

Last night I was confused about the Bavarian Radio Orchestra (Mariss Jansons, current cond.) and the Bavarian State Orchestra (Kiril Petrenko, current MD). In the course of Googling them to make sure that these were not indeed the same outfit, I discovered that the city of Munich is currently home to Nine full time Orchestras. I am not sure how many Orchestras currently call Berlin Home, but I think that after the reunification the number approached that.
SAd to see this Orchestra get folded up, but on the whole, Germany has an enviable track record supporting the Arts, and specifically Classical Music.
