      Thanks ferney.

What on earth has all this to do with the Brahms Horn Trio?

For Pete's sake! Stick to the subject of this thread and start your own if you want to talk about Bach Violin Sonatas

If there's one thing I can't bear, it's when hundreds of old men come creeping in through the window in the middle of the night and throw all manner of garbage over me. I can't bear that.

It has been put onto CD, but the most obvious searches suggest not. There seems to have been an LP reissue earlier on this century - https://www.discogs.com/Brahms-Brahm...elease/3395074 There are several listings on ebay.com

However, after following some red herrings, I found this one from Japan - coupled with Brahms' Violin Concerto - http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/UCCP-3410

Szigeti, Horszowski, John Barrows, 24-27 March 1959: Brahms Sonata Violin No. 2 op. 100, Horn Trio. Japanese CD reissues: Trio on UCCP 3410 with Violin Concerto and Sonata on UCCP 3409 with Beethoven Violin Concerto, earlier reissue of Sonata on PHCP-9600 with Brahms Concerto.
based on an Amazon review of recordings by Szigeti by user "discophage", who also reviewed
Mercury Living Presence Collectors Edition Volume 2 (which does not contain a relevant CD) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2MCF53ZZBJR0D

I have a version on Sony with

                Myron Bloom - French horn
                Michael Tree - violin
                Rudolf Serkin - piano

                Rec. 1960. It's paired with Brahms's Sextet no. 2 - different performers.....

Well worth searching for - a very enjoyable version.

                Hey Nick

I've been searching for that version but afaik it only seems to be downloadable, and from sites not available in the US.
I want to avoid a download because I don't any more DRM issues if I make a copy for my wife.
The Grumiaux version that Stan mentioned has been reissued by Pentatone , as it must have been Quad encoded, so I think I will buy that.
Update--I found it on I tunes

                  Richard

Isn't that Bloom, Serkin, Tree version this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brahms-Sexte...36910292&rt=nc which should be available in your part of the world at a reasonable price? Ebay site should work for you.

Here it's listed as "used" on our UK Amazon, but I think getting it to the US might be a lot more costly.

                  Good luck.

Unnecessarily offensive but typical of some of the contributors to this forum.

                      So I'm off.

In the words of the famous comedian Frankie Howerd:

"Oh, don't bother! Go and talk among yourselves!"

We'll get told off by Hornspieler, for 'meandering' off-topic, if we're not careful!

My local library has the CD (remastered) Perlman/Tuckwell/Azhkenazy recording and I borrowed it for the week. After listening several times to the I tunes download in the past week it sounded revelatory. The tempo and the accuracy that the musicians take in the last movement makes one hold their breath. I duly ordered a copy of the CD
