A remarkable youth orchestra will shortly be visiting the UK. Its tour culminates in a concert at the Royal Festival Hall on 1 August.
Unlike other youth orchestras, the Palestine Youth Orchestra was born under military occupation by a foreign army determined to suffocate expressions of culture , freedom and independence. All of its members are victims of occupation, many of them refugees, and their training , education and rehearsals are governed by the whims of foreign soldiers who control their lives and those of their families.
Their love of music survives the desperate conditions in which live .
This group deserves the support of all music-lovers and indeed of all those who support human rights.
Tickets for the RFH are still available and can be ordered on the South Bank site.
