LMP - at least the composer in Capricchio is a tenor, and in with a chance

Such a pity that Strauss never extracted the Italian tenor's aria from Act 1 Rosenkavalier as a separate concert piece, well worth hearing in itself.
Here's Helge Rosvaenge, an old recording but sung wonderfully well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXbqpJzW3yE

The late Alan Curtis and Christopher Hogwood both seemed to have preferred mezzo-soprano ('ladies' they called them) for the roles originally sung by castrati but that was the matter of the voice rather than of acting abilities.

James Bowman is 74 - a lot older than the rest. I first saw him in the late 60s. A terrific actor. I was impressed with A Scholl's acting in a concert performance of Saul - didn't just stand there and sing.
