    "Knowing the Score"

I don't understand your comment, unless you are punning on music and sport!!

I note that the lecture takes place in the USA but the initial scenes are from one of Bilson's recitals in the Musikverein. The lecture is fascinating. Oh, those exquisite harmonies in the Schubert....be still my beating heart!!

There are other instalments in Bilson's series, too.

Now, then. Let's not have any naughty and disruptive behaviour.

It's a very good lecture, and well worth watching.

            - I'll say (and many thanks to Tetra for posting it ): but also so frustrating that I can't interrupt every now and then to ask a question/pick up a point etc etc

And well-communicated, too: no "talking-down" to the audience, no jargon. The sort of thing I'd hoped would feature on BBC4 every so often.

Our favourite radio station could learn a thing or two from it too.

I note in the lecture I posted that there were other academics in the audience; so, it was especially meant for other scholars - from what I can tell.

But we are all potential scholars.

Not to mention certain presenters from said station who present BBC4 series!

Indeed - and I think that anyone interested in the performance of Classical Music could follow his discussion even without knowing many of the technical vocabulary he uses.

And - if you don't know what a particular word means, it's usually not too difficult to look it up.
