    Raff's Alpine Symphony

I stumbled upon this work on YouTube:

Well, it isn't actually called "Alpine Symphony". It's Symphony no. 7 "In the Alps", very much in the Mendelssohn/Brahms/Dvorak/Parry mold.

Not perhaps the most original of compositions, but well worth a listen.

    Further background information here.

I'll answer, Alpie. I've listened to it and I have a score. It's good fun. Not a patch on Strauss, but why should it be? Your post might prompt me to listen again.

Another "Sound of Music scenery" symphony is Weingartner's no. 1. Certainly the first movement is truly lovely:

        A score? Wow!

        I'll investigate the Weingartner.

MPH of Munich publish reprints of all the Raff symphonies (the Weingartner too) and I get scores as payment for the 'normal' work related to study scores (writing prefaces mainly).
