Britten War Requiem 1964 Bernard Haitink

Here's a real find for Haitink and Britten enthusiasts. A Holland Festival performance from 1964 of Britten's War Requiem conducted by Bernard Haitink and Benjamin Britten.

Not just your computer. Total playing time available from the 4 extracts is of the order of but 56 minutes.

If you click 'luister concert' the whole work is there.

Which still only has a total duration of approximately 56 minutes, so cannot be the whole of the War Requiem.

On my phone right now and haven't listened to it. Will check it out when at home.

I have the results of accessing via the "luister concert" link here on this laptop. All you get is the 4 extracts in sequence. Including pauses the total duration is 55 minutes 17 seconds. Still worth hearing though.

There does seem to be a problem with it that will probably be rectified in time.

However all is not lost. If you click on this: http://www.radio4.nl/persoon/77/haitink-bernard and scroll down you can hear the Agnus Dei and Libera me by clicking on 'luister werk'. As I say the error will no doubt be put right in time.

EDIT: I have sent an e-mail to them via the contact facility.

Thanks Petrushka, it would be good to have the whole work in place there.

Very good find Pet. I didn't realise Bernard had this in his repertoire so early in his career.

Nor did I. However, I remember an unforgettable Prom performance in 1976 broadcast live on BBC2 which would make a very good DVD if anyone can source it.
