Referring to Niles Rodgers and other collaborators. Last night BBC2 slipped virtually unannounced into the schedules a film David Bowie: 5 Years which was made and last shown in 2013. Basically from Hunky Dory to Let's Dance. It was quite fascinating, unseen footage, Bowie's commentary, collaborators' commentary, etc., and can be found on iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...wie-five-years

Curious, but the last Bowie album features the singer backed by jazz saxophonist Donny Mc Caslin's bands. Not a fan of this quartet but intriguing choice of band members. I see he also collaborated with Maria Schneider who I do rate.

The song was re-worked in a more 'rock' style for the latest album. Not a patch, but obviously something he wanted to get released."Gone Chopin, Bach in a minuet."

Cornet IV
Know nothing at all about this chap - is that the correct gender? - but judging by the obsequious acres of newsprint occasioned by his death, I imagine him to have been of some consequence within his peculiar genre.
To garner a degree of adulation exceeding that of Nelson Mandela and Tony Benn combined and rival only that of the Second Coming must represent some achievement.

Just listened to Low. Never my favourite Bowie album but certainly one of his most important and ground-breaking.
His death is a huge media event. There's been nothing like it in terms of scope and impact since John Lennon's death in 1980, although that was even more shocking and unexpected.
It gives you an insight into how McCartney and Dylan (the last two major stars from the golden age of rock - I don't count Jagger and Richards) will be mourned when they depart....

Apologies if this has already been posted. It was just on Reporting Scotland this evening. Film of the local organist Cris Nickol in Kelvingrove playing 'Life on Mars' as a tribute to David Bowie yesterday.
