Tonight's In Tune announced the recent death of Rodney Milnes aged 79

There will be a tribute on Saturday's CD Review.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

I was very sad to hear of this. Over a long period Rodney Milnes was one of the opera critics whose pieces I most enjoyed reading.

This is desperately sad news. RM was an extraordinarily witty and intelligent man as well as a wonderful critic, translator (Janacek's Osud) and operatic guru. RIP.

Very sad news indeed. A lovely sweet man and a great friend with whom I spent many a happy hour when he was on his jaunts to Provence. His knowledge of opera was phenomenal. His sometimes wicked sense of humour was a delight.
