Ronald Stevenson? I can't find any Christmas music by him - A Hinton knows much more about him than I do

However, his friend Alan Bush composed "A Winter Journey" in 1946, re-couching the Christmas story in an "English pastoral" idiom, and giving it a socialist spin. I can't find any youtube of it, which is a shame as it is a very moving work, scored for baritone, harp, string quartet and mixed chorus.

I will need to investigate these people, some of whom are completely new to me and others of whom are just slightly known.

Two of the best Scottish composers, of course, aren't Scottish at all - Bantock and Maxwell Davies - while McCabe is only Scottish by name.

No mention, I see, of Ms Mucha who is mainly elusive as if during her life she would do nothing.

(A bit over reached in a tepid sort of way but it is Sunday night)

I bought the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli set for someone a couple of years ago on the recommendation of a pianist friend
