Es singt und klingt mit Schalle (I listened on the Naxos Music Library).

Christmas music by Schütz, Bach, Pretorius, Rheinberger, Karg-Elert and many others, organised in a 70-minute programme with linking pieces for brass quintet and organ. Performed by the Neuer Knabenchor Hamburg, the Elbeblech Brass Quintet and Moritz Schott on organ, all under the direction of Ulrich Kaiser. A wonderful disc.
Had a listen to this yesterday, and it's a really good CD.
There are used copies on amazon.de about a fiver delivered.

        Thanks Padraig - delightful!
I'd like to suggest 'Natal' by Cesaria Evora.

              Sir John Blackwood McEwen

Hymn on the Morning of Christ's Nativity.

Very reminiscent of Elgar and Brahms sure, but a major work that I really enjoy.
A little off the beaten track of the usual Christmas music.

There are two versions: the long and the short. The long version was written for the Boston SO (in their guise as the Boston Pops, I imagine). The short version is the one that's sold and is also available for brass and military band).

This has the 'full' version. The short version (which you & I have no doubt played) is ⅔ the length.

Populist as ever - Merry Christmas.

Music video for the Christmas standard 'Silent Night' off the 1999 album "Across the Bridge of Hope".

I don't know that piece so thanks.

I really, really like what I have heard of Blackwood McEwen.

He is my favourite Scottish composer unless anyone can suggest possible alternatives?

He was also prolific - we should have much more of his music on R3 and at the Proms.
