Thought I'd bump this a bit. The Van Swieten Trio recordings are very good too, as well as those of Trio 1790. For convenience I'm listening via Qobuz - but I suspect that these recordings will be in the large Haydn Brllliant box - as this page seems to confirm - http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/...lbum_id=206305 No need for me to buy a new set then - though the Trio 1790 versions do have a different sound.

Currently listening to F major, Hob XV:6 which is rather fun.

Re poor old Schröter - he was short lived - and died when he was ahout 36 - http://www.haydn.dk/mhc_schroter.php Currently Wikipedia has screwed up the entry for that composer, hence I have linked to another source - which seems to have been presented with a challenge for some non English characters.

I have the Van Swieten Trio set, but have often wondered what the Trio 1790 set sounds like. What would you say is the "different sound" that they have, Dave? Is it a question of acoustic?

Do you have access to any streaming media service, such as Qobuz or Spotify? Failing that, try YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...B5N7PaWS_8XWd9

Seems to be mostly a question of what instruments they use - I don't know how "authentic" Trio 1790 sounds. Some of the "keyboards" used sound very odd to me, but they are at times quite lively. Possibly the Van Swieten set is more genuine.
