Which Schittke work would you choose to play and talk about Barbi?

Maybe a parallel thread would be informative, educational, and entertaining.

Some Harry Partch would have added to the mix, I think.

I would have nominated Gubaidulina's Offertorium.

For Schnittke, allow me to nominate his Peer Gynt ballet.

To be fair, most of the innovations one might have ascribed to Schnittke had already been done by others; but having said that, the first of his symphonies did brazenly smash through a great number of no-no's still operant in the Soviet Union at the time of its composition, in 1970; so that work would be my choice.

Then there was a stand-up-and-cheer performance of Harmonielehre some years ago by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland which was astonishingly good. Most recently I heard a terrific performance of the original string sextet version of Shaker Loops which wasn't half bad (all the better for being performed live by a group of totally engaged musicians who put their all into it).
            A very interesting post.

            Many thanks for it.

              Harmonielehre
              Shaker Loops

              No question.

However, the rest? As per Bryn's post #9?
