Several very gifted conductors still in their thirties - I shall certainly be eager to hear anything conducted by
Karina Canellakis (38 - currently Chief Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra; she gave a tremendous concert with the Hallé that I attended, just over a year ago)
Dalia Stasevska (35 - just about to become Principal Guest Conductor of the BBCSO, so her "profile" in the UK should become much more prominent. I heard her with the Orchestra of Opera North in a stunningly good concert in Huddersfield [Lutoslawski, Strauss, & Bruckner #7] which was so good that I got myself another ticket for the repeat performance in Leeds a couple of nights later: I've never done this before).
Christoph Altstaedt (39 - "no fixed abode" as yet; I heard him first at ON's production of Hansel & Gretel a couple of years ago, and in a concert with that orchestra which included a Tristan Prelude & Liebestod that made me crave to hear the intervening three-and-a-half hours under his direction [the rest of the concert - Ravel's "Left Hander" and DSCH's #15 - was top notch, too]. ON is still - quite happily, it seems - without a Music Director/Principal Conductor; they could easily do a lot worse than sign Altstaedt up for the job.)
Maxime Pascal (35 - co-founder and conductor of Le Balcon orchestra; and anyone who can bring together Stockhausen's infinite variety so coherently and vividly just needs to be heard. Besides, he's in charge of the rest of the Licht project, and that's very, very high on my "Music I'd Love to Hear" list.)Numquam Satis!

Remember too that Karina Canellakis will be conducting the Proms' First Night this year, including the Glagolitic Mass, having given outstanding Proms with the BBCSO in the 2017/18 seasons, with wonderful accounts of the Dvorak 8th and Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances - both received (and reviewed) with great enthusiasm here!

Staveska is also appearing at the Proms - Edgey will have noticed that she's conducting the Weinberg 'cello Concerto; and no doubt Tchaikovsky's Pathetique on the programme will bring both her, and Weinberg, the wider attention that I think she deserves.Numquam Satis!
