Seeing a mention of Ry Cooder on another thread reminded me that he worked with Captain Beefheart on the
Safe as Milk record in the early years of the Magic Band. Like many others Cooder didn't stay for too long and
by the time of this wonderful performance of Electricity from Cannes in 1968 he had been replaced by Jeff
Cotton. This live performance knocks the LP version into a cocked hat.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Quite a good track - but maybe it’s just me - I could never see the point of pop videos with bits of random film thrown together!

Robbie Basho - Green River Suite, from the majestic Visions of the Country (1978).

Another from his 1978 album, "Visions of the Country", accompanied by some images of those touched by this wonderful music.

                  New Order. January 1963.

One of their very best, IMO. Beautifully paced song.

I first heard this classic southern soul gem on Radio 3, back when Kershaw was still around. Hadn't heard it in a while but it turned up on the radio today. James Carr was a tragic character and this is where soul and gospel meet. 'Dark End of the Street'

Ah, I only know that from the Flying Burrito Brothers. Nice compare and contrast though.

in a different zone, in a slightly alternative universe this would have been a huge hit !!

                      Thomas Leer and Robert Rental.

                      groovy !!

Listening to the wireless yesterday, this complete delight turned up. Hadn't heard it in an age - a real bedsitter song from the early 70s that sounds so wonderfully creepy and delightful.

Stephen Fry was a guest on Cerys on 6 and brought this in with him - he's punting an audiotape of Greek Myths, cloughie. And 'The Lady in Braid' has been haunting me since.

A most delightful take on Jackie Wilson's 'Higher and Higher', I thought...but then again, it is Rita Hayworth.

A great song from the wonderful Whammy! album.....the B52's at their imperious best. Sit back and enjoy. Great song, great groove, great lyric. I don't think they missed anything out ......
