what a great song Meet me on the corner was. Right at the very start of my pop music life. Somebody had a copy of the album, and we loved it.
anyway, a few years later, Spizz was on the scene, and after the explosive success of Where's Captain Kirk, was faced with a " difficult fourth single" issue. ( Might not have been the fourth, but you get the drift.)
Anyway, the follow up " No Room " was the nearest they got to repeating the excellence of their " Hit". Always liked No Room, so here it is.
A band always on the edge of doing something good, or interesting, but never really quite managing either. But those couple of gems do them credit.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

So many great tracks on three early Fairport albums, interestingly all released in 1969, and possibly may have never happened at all as the band considered breaking up after the death of their drummer Martin Lamble in a motor accident. What we did on our holidays (Fotheringay, She moved through the fair), Unhalfbricking (Who knows where the time goes, Autopsy, Genesis Hall, Si tu dois partir), Liege & Lief ( Tam Lin, Matty Groves) - Did they invent Folk-Rock? He died between Unhalfbricking and Liege and Lief, cloughie. Apparently he got the gig as Fairport's drummer because he persuaded them after a gig that he was a better drummer than their then drummer, Stuart Fraser. Anyway I often go back and have a listen to Liege and Lief's producer Joe Boyd's podcast where he takes us on a 10-minute tour around Sandy Denny starting with 'Autopsy', and celebrating Lambie's terrific drumming.Originally posted by cloughie View Post
