Yes and over a long timespan. Nobody can get it right or great all the time. Maybe Townshend milked his successes eg Tommy too much, but his songs told many a tale unlike many other acts that beefed out poor lyrics with good riffs!

I have the XTC one on the early A and B double album compilation Waxworks Beeswax.

The last album I bought was a Belafonte - on vinyl, second hand, at the local fete.

I am not a Rolling Stones fan but this is still my favourite cover version of them:

Talking of the Rolling Stones - April marks the 50th Anniversary of Aftermath - for me the best ever Stones album. It marked what was probably the last significant contributions from Brian Jones whose multi-instrumental creative touches added so much to the Stones output. 'Mother's Little Helper', 'Lady Jane', 'Under my thumb', 'Dontcha bother me', 'Out of time' and the extended bluesy 'Goin' home', just a few of the classics. There are many who will praise 'Exile on Main Street' or 'Sticky Fingers' which however good miss the Jones touches.

... which reminds me that I bought Aftermath when it came out. The LP has since disappeared and I never got a CD, so I haven't heard it for years. This might be a call to action.

Lee Fields is so good, that it's hard to put it into words - but I really don't think that cover of Moonlight Mile works

Should you decide to buy the CD - take care to buy the the UK and not the US version.

A lot of songs here! This has been eagerly awaited by me for several decades and I never thought it would happen. Jamie Scott's new tribute site to his late father, Roger, who was in my opinion the best ever daytime mainstream pop music presenter in the UK. There are allegedly 300 hours of shows. I can't say I have located them all either here or on the related Facebook page. But there are many more hours of broadcasting than have previously been made available and it saves me from doing a BA in radio (at Bournemouth or is it Kent where the 1970s/1980s ILR vaults reside? I can't recall) just to access them!! :

Roger Scott. 1,097 likes. Roger joined the original on-air line-up of London's Capital Radio. Scott's afternoon drive-time shows became immensely popular with Londoners, generating such landmark...

as good a piece of Beatles pastiche as you are likely to find.
worth reading about this song. Andy Partridge submitted it for the film " Buster".
                              it got rejected. Unbelievable.

                              Anyway, a great fun song.

I've probably played Beach Boys 'Pet Sounds' more than any other record since it came out back in the summer of 66. Anyway it hits 50 years old this weekend and still sounds as fresh and wonderful as ever. Here's 'You still believe in me'...always loved the bike horn on it.
