    Herbert von Karajan's filmed catalogue, now available on DG's Stage+, is the focus of this week's podcast


    This Gramophone podcast is well worth a listen. Supposed to be about the release of the Karajan Telemondial films on Stage + (see the review by Peter Quantril in latest copy of the magazine), but Osborne talks at length and ranges widely, including anecdotes from when he met him, background details about these films and the earlier ones, and some cracking recommendations...

    Thanks for this; I hadn't heard of it.

    Karajan has been so much criticised that Richard Osborne's consistent and well-reasoned advocacy of his style has been a useful balancing action. His writings have encouraged me to reassess Herbert's recordings and gain much enjoyment and satisfaction from them.
