    Antonio Meneses RIP

The Brazilian cellist has died aged 66 after being diagnosed only in June with an aggressive brain tumour. A lovely player as I recall and made a famous recording with ASM of the Brahms Double with HVK conducting . Life can be very cruel . RIP

In the podcast I refer to in an adjacent thread, Richard Osborne has high praise for Meneses contribution to a late Karajan Strauss Don Quixote, not superseding the well-known one with Fourier, but a complement to it.

      I agree with that
. I remember years ago he started playing a cello made out of a carbon fiber micro polymer and released an album to showcase the instrument. My daughter had a friend who had a doctorate in polymer research, and who is also a composer, and he had the CD.
