If you have around three hours to spare over the weekend, it is well worth catching Thomas Quasthoff's conducting debut with Bach's St Matthew Passion which is available online. Not a period instrument performance but a chamber orchestra with seasoned soloists; Mark Padmore, Manuel Walser, Christiane Karg, Bernarda Fink, Mauro Peter and Christopher Maltman. Robert Levin on organ amongst the continuo and RIAS Kammerchor.
