      I remember enjoying seeing him conducting the Tchaikovsky symphonies (inc Manfred) at Birmingham Symphony Hall in the 1990s.

        I think we saw him conduct Tchaikovsky 6th in Carnegie Hall - probably 2005 - see https://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/29/a...-comes-to.html

        Really quite a surprise - going to NY and hearing the Russian orchestra and conductor.

          If memory serves, I first heard Termirkanov conduct the RPO on tour in the sticks at Chichester in Tchaikovsky 5 back in, horrors, 1988, possibly accompanying Hugh Tierney in the Emperor. A lean and dapper but unobtrusively commanding presence at the podium. He will be missed.
