            #256

Thanks, ts, I hadn't heard Ezra Sims' name before tonight. That music seemed lean and to the point.

Wolfgang Rihm - Départ (for mixed chorus, speaking chorus and 22 instruments, 1988)

Luigi Nono - Liebeslied (for mixed chorus and instruments, 1954)

              Deutsche Grammophon

2 great works from a long treasured CD. It could be easy to forget that Claudio Abbado was a champion of modern music.

I wonder what the scores look like. Perhaps MrGG will join us and give us some links.

We need Gongers on this, as Dave says.

                        Really enjoying the Sextet, BTW.

He's gone to Ibiza in search of English folk music. You'll have to wait for his return.

Oh, has he? I'd not realised. Presumably he'll come home with some English Country-Tunes suitable for performance at an Ibiza Prom...

If he enjoys himself, he'll come home with a bit more than that.
