A treasured jewel in my CD collection. I love the artwork on the Deutsche Gramophone 20th Century Classics releases.

At about 1 hour 36 minutes, it's a long listen. Indebted to Rattle for making it happen

Lasalle Quartet - Deutsche Grammophon
I've owned this set for quite a few years now. I really enjoyed collecting DG's 20th Century Classics series. Great covers too.
Although #2 is considered his string quartet masterpiece, #3 was always my favourite. Not sure anymore.
Zemlinsky's time has come....

Hans Werner Henze - Symphonies Nos 5 &6
BPO & LSO respectively, conducted by the composer. Deutsche Grammophon.
P.S. #6 is wacky!
The original two orchestra-concept with aleatorical elements have been replaced by completely composed passages.
No.6 was released on one LP, while the nos.1-5 filled a 2LP set. The only Henzes which were composed and available from the early 1970 onwards (and the only ones on DGG) before he entered composing the seventh in the early 1980s.

I also have Rattle's 7 and Ingo's 9, but I don't have 8. Might check some of this out on Apple Music.

On the basis of a recent most enjoyable experience listening to DSCH's symphony #12, I am now going off the beaten track again to give symphony #11 another go. I do remember struggling with this work.
Again, it's the trusty Barshai WDR cycle that I bought for about £13 new on Brilliant over 10 years ago, IIRC. This time I'm being lazy and listening from that most excellent service 'Apple Music'.
