Mendelssohn's Scotch

Mendelssohn always referred to this [Symphony No 3] in correspondence and conversation as his Scotch Symphony

I don't like or use the word 'Scotch' when I mean Scottish in general conversation.

I'm fond of the Hanover Band's very earthy recording of this piece.

Recent mention in these parts has been made of the large box set of Klemperer CDs. i didn't realise that he had tinkered with this particular symphony. There are a couple of versions in the box - so are any of his recorded versions as they were written by the composer?

Oh yes, his published 1960 Columbia recording, made at Abbey Road, uses the received text.
