    Mendelssohn always referred to this [Symphony No 3] in correspondence and conversation as his Scotch Symphony
    I don't like or use the word 'Scotch' when I mean Scottish in general conversation.​

        Recent mention in these parts has been made of the large box set of Klemperer CDs. i didn't realise that he had tinkered with this particular symphony. There are a couple of versions in the box - so are any of his recorded versions as they were written by the composer?

          Oh yes, his published 1960 Columbia recording, made at Abbey Road, uses the received text.
