    Nicolai Gedda - greatest recordings

According to Norman Lebrecht's blog, Nicolai Gedda has died:

A wonderful artist, a most musicianly singer and a beautiful voice. RIP.

A great singer has passed away, it were his performances of Mozart and Beethoven which triggered my interest in their operas.

    RIP Nicolai Gedda

Lebrecht has now taken down the blog post about Gedda, after posting another (also now taken down) saying that reports were unconfirmed.
I'm so sorry to have jumped in with what turned out to be unsubstantiated news.

He was an unexpected choice for Boult's Gerontius, but he succeeded through his beauty of tone and immaculate line, good English, and impassioned delivery.

          RIP

I do too. There's nothing in the Swedish press that I can find - I'd have thought they'd be among the first to report it.

He definitely seems to be not dead yet.

Perhaps he is at a Gerontius Part 1 stage.

Lebrecht's slipped disk playing up again...

                      http://www.svd.se/ Also nothing yet

                      http://www.expressen.se/ Nor here.
http://www.expressen.se/sok/?q=Gedda Nor an explicit search, so let's hope it's one of those Mark Twain things - either a quote or a Huck Finn thing.

Does anybody know how to change the subject line of this thread? As the person responsible for starting it, I'd like at the very least to delete the "RIP" part of it...
