Gramophone reported that Brian Couzens, founder of Chandos Records, died this morning. Chandos Records' own webpage doesn't yet have a tribute, but they will undoubtedly put up a tribute page soon. Condolences to his family.

I love that Chandos "House Sound" andtheir support for the SACD format and High Resolution downloads, along with their commitment to British Music.
The Bryden Thomson RVW cycle was a revelation for me, and now I'm collecting the Hickox recordings as well.Comment

I am greatly saddened by this news. Chandos have built up a great reputation since they were started up. So many first class recordings as well. Favourites very hard to put down. RIP

Gramophone obituary here. I see his son took over, as Ted Perry's son took over Hyperion when Ted died. What a boon both labels have been!It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.Comment
