    Hello? BBCSSO?

Can't see thread on this though a post may have been popped in somewhere else, as the news is a fortnight old.

Thomas Dausgaard to take over from Donald Runnicles in Sept 2016?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Was announced as a sort of after thought earlier this week or late last week as part of an intro to a concert, I think. Hardly trumpeted by Beeb?
    VG appointment, I'd say.

I mentioned it in a post on one of the Simon Rattle threads, in response to someone who listed a number of orchestras looking for new conductors, including the BBCSSO.

          Seconded!

However having attended a concert of his, I find his uncanny similarity to the late great Dermot Morgan striking, and hence the impression that Father Ted is conducting the orchestra distracting!

One for the radio / CD, for me!

It'll be interesting to see how the programming changes. I think Runnicles introduced more opera and singers because of his strong operatic connections. When Ticciati took over the SCO the Baroque repertoire almost disappeared from their programming.
