I have been thinking I should buy more Bohm recordings as I really enjoy the few I have

I think I prefer Böhm as an opera conductor, not just for those recordings already mentioned but also this excellent Don Giovanni from Salzburg in 1977:

Mozart: Don Giovanni, K527. Deutsche Grammophon: 4775655. Buy download online. Sherrill Milnes (Don Giovanni), Walter Berry (Leporello), Anna Tomowa-Sintow (Donna Anna), Peter Schreier (Don Ottavio), Teresa Zylis-Gara (Donna Elvira), Edith Mathis (Zerlina), Dale Dasing (Masetto), John Macurdy (Commendatore) Wiener Staatsopernchor & Wiener Philharmoniker, Karl Böhm

I have finally got round to listening to the DG Bruckner 7 . I note preferences for two live accounts above but I think it is very fine - no excessive urgency , no longeuers but a great sense of the whole shape of the work and stunning playing . A very satisfying performance .

I must go back to his Bruckner 3 and 4 which although highly rated have never really grabbed me .

My own favourite is his DG recording of Tristan und Isolde, although I admit it is more because of the soloists than the conducting, though I have no problems with Bohm's interpretation. I also have very fond memories of the DG LPs of the late Mozart symphonies.

I have just bought a 23 CD box of his late DG recordings, all mainstream stuff, but havent had a chance to listen to it yet.

An excellent box - includes interesting Tchaikovsky last three, a New World, Bruckner 7 and 8, some Wagner Orchestral bits and a
            good Heldenleben.

My first Mozart recording was Symphonies 40 and 41, Berlin Phil/ Boehm. I still prefer the 1st version of No 40 (the one without clarinets), of which Boehm was a great advocate, although I have heard his final version, preferred by most conductors, much more often in recent years.
