I think it is terrific news - he is a great conductor and how good to have a British conductor as music director of one of the London orchestras again.

At this rate there won't be any music education for him to support by the time he gets "back"

What crap . The fact that none of the London orchestras had a well known committed conductor from the UK has meant despite the quality of much of their work they have gained very little consciousness outside the classical music world .
