I wonder if she is taking advice on those all important social media skills from any ex heads of Ofsted......

anyway, good luck with the improvements. you'll need it, by the sound of it.

anyway, back on topic....er.... I wonder if Gideon's enthusiasm is anything to do with winning those vital London Marginals in May?

In John Wyndham's "The Kraken Wakes" Harrogate becomes the capital, but that town's residents are regarded in much of the rest of the north of England as being slightly on the conceited side already. (Possibly an unfair generalisation, I should add.)

But Skipton is an excellent route centre and is accessible for the rest of the UK, without being tucked away in the bottom right-hand corner like the current capital.

And presumably with less risk of flooding. It will probably be cheaper to move Parliament to a new building elsewhere than build new flood defences when the Thames Barrier becomes inadequate.

Have you tried motoring through the centre of Skipton recently, Alpie? To make the road (yep - there's only one!) "accessible", you'd need to rip up half the town to make way for ... more roads!

And then infest the place with all those emotional inadequates.

Nah - stick 'em in Leeds: rail, road, and air (and canal!) access from all parts of mainland UK - and the emotional inadequates would blend in.

                Coal mines in Skipton?

                    Or the Thatcher Memorial Parliament.

The coalmines under Glasgow are being filled in with concrete, to prevent subsidence. (Just thought I'd mention it )

It has: Simon Rattle - London Concert Halls - Tactless remarks by politicians re London and the rest of Britain - Capital City - etc.

I suggest Sir Simon moves the LSO to Skipton and renames it the Skipton SO. However, it might affect the Skipton Community Orchestra.

Perhaps London's new concert hall should be built underground? Easy links to the Underground, no problems with the noise of aircraft & helicopters, police car sirens etc etc. It could be called the Sir Simon Rattle Concert Hole.

Great timing and build-up to the pun, Flo !!

                          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

The problem surely would be that the tube train noise would outdo even Kingsway Hall in that department .

Ah, Kingsway Hall! What a venue. Small, but beautiful sounding...

The Philharmonie in Cologne is under ground. When you go round the back of the cathedral towards the Rhein you stand on it roof.
