    R.I.P. Tangerine Dream's Edgar Froese

Very sad news to those of us who remembered the long noodling gigs of the 1970's / 80's complete with step ladders on stage to reach the higher modules.

One of my friend's older brother introduced me to them. I still remember "Autobahn". They were my first exposure to both Electronica and Krautrock.

      Very, very sad news indeed.

The first five or six TD albums were pioneering and were certainly part of my album collection in the early/mid 1970s, with Zeit and Phaedra played in the last week.

      Currently playing 'Ricochet', in memoriam.

Thanks for letting us know, GG. Tangerine Dream were much a part of my listening, early 70s, along with Neu (was it?) Atem, Can, and Faust - the best of them, we thought.

I'd give a similar list. Atem being a TD album rather than a band, IIRC.

Neu! must never have their exclamation mark lopped off!

And Can were the best of the bunch

Autobahn was by Kraftwerk, a great album

I remember being entranced by the album Rubicon (did I get the name right?)

Rubycon was TD's 6th album from 1975. One of my schooldays favourites!

Ah that's the one, Beefy...I remember that cover! Only had a musicassette of it which I played on my crappy old Philips portable machine, but I loved it all the same! I was in the sixth form around 76-77, happy memories!

HeHe, I was in the lower 6th and we had a similar cassette set up in the common room - the awful sound-reproduction systems that we had to put up with in those days!

"changing cosmic address". I like that.

Some very good 'seminal' albums in the 1970s but also some not so good ones later. Anyway, thanks Edgar.
