Tim Neighbour (Olivier W. Neighbour), RIP

The great music librarian O.W. Neighbour (known as Tim) - who was also a major scholar specializing in Byrd and Schoenberg - has died at the age of 91. Anyone who worked in the British Library in the 1970s and 80s will probably have encountered this vastly knowledgeable man. I saw a great deal of Tim in the early 80s and we often had lunch together at the Amalfi in Southampton Row. He was brilliant and amusing on all matters musical, and his enthusiasms reached far beyond his "specialities". I remember many conversations with Tim about Vaughan Williams, for instance.

Dear Tim, you did so much for your profession, and so much to help other scholars. Many lives will be poorer without you in them. RIP.
