    RadioPlayer

Forgive me if this has already been addressed and I did search the forum, honest.

Can anyone tell me what is the point of this White Elephant? So you can access all UK radio stations from one web page. So what. I already have that ...it's called a Bookmark. I have two...Radio 3 and Radio 4.

How much time, energy and money (including a chunk of BBC licence fee) has been wasted on this? I am surprised that it hasn't had much more criticism.

      Pan-radio Radioplayer

[This is sort of News, though not exclusively musical]. Has anyone been using the Radioplayer as their way of accessing live and Listen Again? If so, what do you use it for?

I don't personally have a need for anything except the old Radio 3 iPlayer homepage. I think I shall still google 'Classic FM' if I want to check their playlists or something. If you go in via Radioplayer you'll find you're listening to it ...

      Press release here.

Edit: I've merged BTS's thread with mine, since they both appeared within ten minutes of each other.

It is very unlikely to affect me at all. I only listen to Radio 3 and Radio 4 and select the programmes by going to the schedule pages (which I have bookmarked). I wasn't even aware that a Radio 3 iPlayer homepage existed and, having looked at it, it seems to have little advantage over using the schedules.

The RadioPlayer is a separate beast to the BBC iPlayer. If you click on French Frank's link above, it will take you to the RadioPlayer page where you can..um..err..access every radio station in the UK.

So what, I hear you ask? Precisely. What a truly monumental waste of time, effort and money (including a chunk of BBC Licence fee). Utterly utterly pointless.

            i've just found this
            and its brilliant
i like things that take me places I didn't know (like the wonderful Resonance FM)
a bit like using last FM or Spotify

Part of my work involves encouraging young people to widen their listening, so this is great as you can see (ok in a fairly superficial way at first) how musics are connected .........

Do you know exactly how much it's cost BTW or are you just going with your hissy fit?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the Government's imposition of digital responsibility on to BBC.

Did you hear the rumour that the BBC was considering moving The Archers to Radio 4Xtra to encourage people to buy digital radios?

Not entirely a rumour. 4 Extra is to have an Archers spin-off written by some of the same script-writers

Well these spin-offs are not necessarily a success. Think of "The Colbys" and "The Royal", both of which helped to kill off their parent series.
