I'm glad that you mentioned the threat to the Ulster Orchestra as I was completely unaware. It is unthinkable that the orchestra should close and I urge others to sign the petition to the Ni Assembly.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The Ulster Orchestra has a donations option on their website (which I'm going to use), paypal only, though I'm sure they will find other options if you give them a call.
Crowdfunding may be an option - not to stem all expenses, but to plug holes.
However, for that you would have to sell it a bit better. Donators move in packs: if others have already donated, they are more likely to spend some money. If a significant amount of money has been raised, they are likely to spend more than they would have otherwise. And they like trinkets to show that they have heroically spend money, even if its only some stickers that say Ulster Orchestra Supporter.
Thus it might be a good idea to market the donations option, starting by showing the amount of donators and the money raised, as well as possible "awards" and goals for donating. A wider range of payment options would also help.
