    Selling "modern" music

This is one of the funniest things I've seen recently:

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Now THIS is the kind of craven and stultifying commercialism I meant, Mr Feingold!!!!! Where's your "nonsense" now???????

I think my reaction was more: "Who? Why?"

But probably best not answered ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks for this, Cali; hadn't seen it in years! Perhaps the best commercialsm in it is the closing ad for the website of the excellent Schönberg Center in Vienna although, as that did not exist at the time the commercial was made (1977), I wonder if that bit's been popped on the end subsequently...

It's the deadpan "the greatest composers since Joachim Raff" that does it for me

You mean it's meant as a joke?

It's a work of art in itself, Cali. Always a winner (perhaps especially for those of us who love Arnie and Co).

I think he was pulling your leg, Richard...!

See how annoying it is when people misspell your name?

(and yes, of course Caliban is right, I wasn't being serious in that post!)

                            ... lovely; many thanks.

Of course, to be pedantic, most of the works featured are not 12-tone at all...
