Just the one thread from you Cloughie in 2014. Go on, do it sometime.

It will almost definitely be interesting now.

The atmosphere was occasionally electric when reviews of Proms would hurtle in as soon as the concert was over.

It took over an hour to get one post tonight.

The 10.00pm - midnight batch of posts was invariably the most interesting.

Now everyone seems to retire somewhat earlier.

I didn't listen to the Prom this evening.
The Edinburgh festival Brahms and DSCH on I player was a much more of an draw for me.

This is my first post. Please don't welcome me - such things make me nauseous, and anyway, you'll soon feel different.
I doubt I'll be around long, but in the meantime I'd like to volunteer to liven things up and ruffle absolutely everyone's feathers on any subject you fancy, without breaking any forum rules.
Having read this thread, I'd like to suggest that most gone-silent board participants have died of smugness, emoticon overdose, self-aggrandisement or any number of similar middle-class ailments. You're about as interesting to the outside world as FoR3 is to BBC management.

What was your reason for joining and what do you feel might energise the place, Bh? Does it need energising?

I joined to liven things up, as wished for by some. As it happens, I'm a one-time Radio 3 listener and that led me to this forum, where I've been an occasional reader for some time. That's some background.
As for whether this place needs energising, I don't really have a view on the matter - it makes no difference to me. But for a while, I'm offering to put the wind up you all.

Sounds a bit, you know, nauseating, thanks Badge.

Goodness - you've only listened once? I know that (according to some) it's been going down hill for some time, but I think that even they listen a bit more often.

The Dachshund arrives on a full moon - something of the night about him/her - or just another chancer? Will the dawn scare him/her? The plot thickens or does it?

Well, yes. But then, the same can be said of all "special-interest" internet blogs, chatrooms etc etc. I doubt the Forum has ever been interesting to the outside world - it wouldn't be "outside", otherwise - the point of the Thread seems to be the suggestion that we're becoming (or have become) less interesting to the "inside world"; ourselves.

But nice try - thanks for the effort.

(By the way; what did you mean by "emoticon overdose"?)

smiley, and the outside world smileys with you.

Actually, I have just clicked, that is a secret code in smiley form, isn't it Ferney?

My guess: " Simpson? at a BBC Prom?"
